QuickLogic Programmable SOC Family Targets Digital Media

SUNNYVALE, Calif.—(BUSINESS WIRE)—Oct. 11, 2004— QuickLogic Corporation (NASDAQ:QUIK)

-- Product family embeds pre-programmed functionality in on-chip logic

-- Primary focus on Digital Signage applications

-- First product incorporates IDE controller

QuickLogic Corporation (NASDAQ:QUIK), the inventor and pioneer of Embedded Standard Products (ESPs), today announced the introduction of the QL92xxx family of programmable system-on-a-chip (SoC) devices. These products are based on the QL902M member of the popular QuickMIPS product family and incorporate additional pre-programmed modules that target the resulting device for embedded digital-media applications.

The first member of the family, the QL92010, incorporates an IDE controller. Subsequent devices, to be announced later this year, embed additional functionality consistent with the company's focus on providing silicon solutions for equipment that distributes and processes digital media across wired and wireless IP networks. Example applications include digital signage, wireless projectors, wireless monitors and KVM (keyboard, video, mouse) equipment. Additional modules are expected to include graphical interfaces, video compression/decompression engines and content-protection units.

Time to Market

"Limited engineering resources, coupled with time to market pressures, are forcing system designers to seek out products and suppliers that can solve increasingly larger amounts of the system-design challenges," said Ian Ferguson, Vice President and General Manager, QuickMIPS Products. "QuickLogic's strategy allows our customers to focus their resources on the area of the design on which they can differentiate themselves from their competitors."

Instead of supplying generic components, QuickLogic goes a step further in terms of customization by including application-specific modules on the QL92xxx programmable SoC chips. This reduces the design efforts of their customers, since they don't have to worry about designing software and circuitry for standardized system functions.

QL92010 Price and Availability

The QL92010 device is available now in production volumes for both commercial and industrial temperature versions. List pricing (10,000 OEM) starts at $30.

About QuickLogic

QuickLogic Corporation (NASDAQ:QUIK) invented and has pioneered the Embedded Standard Product (ESP) architecture, with the introduction of first products in 1998. ESPs are semiconductor devices that deliver the guaranteed performance, lower cost and lower risk of standard products, coupled with the flexibility and time-to-market benefits of programmable logic. QuickLogic's proprietary ViaLink metal-to-metal interconnect technology offers significant benefits -- including very low power at high performance levels -- to our customers and is the foundation of our ESP product families, as well as our core FPGA products. Founded in 1988, the company is located at 1277 Orleans Drive, Sunnyvale, CA 94089-1138. For more information please visit the QuickLogic web site at www.quicklogic.com.
